劉曉迎書法國際巡展
- 簡介 -
本次書法展由北美金幣資本（Aucoin Capital)主辦，以傳播東亞傳統文化、藝術，促進多元文化融合為主題。各位來賓可以在現場欣賞到著名書法家、藝術家及文化使者劉曉迎先生的近30幅書法藝術珍品。
歷史造就了加拿大多元化的族裔組成，加拿大政府也一直鼓勵多元文化的並存和發展。這樣的優秀環境使得各族裔的文化傳統和藝術表現方式在這裡相互影響、碰撞，帶來加拿大文化事業的興旺蓬勃；書法藝術是東亞傳統文化的重要組成部分，我們希望通過劉曉迎先生優秀的藝術作品讓加拿大各族裔民眾能夠一起領略東方文化的深刻底蘊，交流和傳播美妙的東方書法文化，豐富加拿大多元文化內涵。
自青年時代起，借鑒不同藝術形式的精髓提高書法藝術的國際認知，並以書法藝術為媒、實現不同國家和族裔的文化藝術溝通交流就是劉曉迎先生長期堅持的藝術實踐活動；加拿大多元、包容的文化氛圍也是劉曉迎先生選擇溫哥華作為書法國際巡展第一站的原因；因此我們也非常希望以此次書法展為契機，把書法這一東亞傳統文化中的獨特藝術形式帶向全世界。
本次書法藝術展得到了BC省各級政府、本地文化界、商界人士的熱烈響應和支持，我們對展覽的成功舉辦充滿信心。相信這次展覽將成為東西方文化交流融合的美好契機，並鼓勵更多亞裔融入加拿大社會並作出文化貢獻，豐富加拿大的多元文化資產，促進加拿大多元文化的融合與發展。

- 藝術簡歷及感言 -
自小受舅父葉選寧影響喜歡書法，終於有一天拿起筆來就未曾放下。一晃近四十載，這期間臨習了包括漢、魏、晉、唐、宋、元、明、清及今人的許多書法作品。
習字期間，有幸得到了如黃苗子、黃永玉等老前輩的指導及許多行內朋友的關懷，並在舅父一路的幫助下，慢慢走到今天。寫字是個糾結的事，時而高興，時而沮喪。
少時輕狂，總覺得自己的字已經不錯了，長大了才明白當初的無知是多麼可笑。書法難而無底，人生苦短。雖刻苦有餘，然悟性愚鈍。
這次拿些作品出來分享，一則是希望能得到大家的批評及教導，有助於自己今後的成長；二則是想架一座小橋，讓國際朋友過來瞧瞧，對東亞傳統文化感受一二。語言不同、地域有界，但我始終相信藝術能跨越差異，結成紐帶。
Xiaoying Liu Calligraphy
International Exhibition
- INTRODUCTION -
This exhibition is organized by Aucoin Capital with the goal of promoting East Asian traditional culture and promoting multicultural integration. The exhibition will feature about 30 calligraphy works by famous Chinese artist, Chinese calligrapher and cultural ambassador Mr. Xiaoying Liu. It is our honour to be able to present these art treasures.
History has created a diverse ethnic composition in Canada, and the Canadian government has always encouraged the coexistence and development of multiculturalism. Cultures and artistic expressions from various ethnic groups are able to interact in such an excellent environment, bringing about the prosperity of Canadian cultural ventures. The art of calligraphy is an invaluable part of East Asian traditional culture. We hope that Mr. Liu's outstanding works of art will provide Canadians of all ethnicities with a glimpse into the profound heritage of eastern culture, facilitate the exchange of ideas, and help spread the treasure of eastern calligraphy, thus enriching the meaning of multiculturalism within the country.
Chinese calligraphy has been a passion of Mr. Liu Xiaoying's since he was a teenager. In order to improve the international recognition of calligraphy art, he has incorporated elements of diverse art forms. He has also used calligraphy art as a medium to promote cultural and artistic exchanges between different countries and ethnic groups. Canada's diverse and inclusive cultural atmosphere is part of the reason why Mr. Liu Xiaoying chose Vancouver as the first stop of the international tour exhibition of calligraphy. Therefore, we also hope to take this calligraphy exhibition as an opportunity to bring calligraphy, a unique art form in the traditional culture of East Asia, to the world.
The calligraphy art exhibition has received a warm response and support from the provincial and municipal level, local cultural circles and business people in BC. We are confident of the success of the exhibition. We believe that this exhibition will be a terrific opportunity for cultural exchanges between the East and the West. It will encourage more people to integrate into Canadian society and make meaningful contributions, enrich Canada's multicultural assets, and promote the integration and development of Canadian multiculturalism.

- ARTIST STATEMENT -
Influenced by my uncle, Xuanning Ye, I love calligraphy and have never put down the brush since the day I picked it up. Almost forty years have passed.
During that time I have studied many calligraphic works from the Han, Wei, Jin, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties as well as contemporary works. During my study of calligraphy, I was fortunate to receive guidance from seniors such as Miaozi Huang and Yongyu Huang, the care of many friends in the field, and with the help of my uncle, that I gradually worked my way to where I am now. Calligraphy is a complex study that can make you feel both delighted and dissatisfied.
When I was young, I was so wild that I thought my calligraphy was good enough, but only after I grew up did I realize how ridiculous my ignorance was. Learning calligraphy is hard and has no ultimate, but life is way too short.
In this exhibition, I share some of my calligraphy works, one is I want to hear criticism from others, which will help my future growth in calligraphy; the other is the vision to build a bridge for friends from around the world to experience the traditional culture of East Asia. There are different languages and different coutries, but I always belive that art has no boundaries.
